Before trials

How to use HSC Science Coach before trials.

A student-facing guide to using HSC Science Coach before trial exams: answer first, find the missing marking point, then rewrite.

Independent. Not official HSC/NESA.

Answer without notes first

Trials reward what you can explain under pressure. Start by writing the answer yourself before reading the model answer.

Find the missing marking point

Do not just ask whether the answer was right. Look for the exact idea, link, command-term move or evidence statement that cost the mark.

Rewrite before moving on

The rewrite is where the improvement happens. Fix the same answer using the missed marking point, then try a related question.

FAQ

Quick answers for this practice page.

How should I use it each week before trials?

Use it for short, regular practice blocks. One strong routine is 20 to 30 minutes: answer a question, read the feedback, rewrite the answer, then write down the marking point you missed.

Can I use it for school assessment tasks?

No. Use it for private revision practice, not for completing school assessment tasks or submitting work that should be entirely your own.

Which subjects can I use before trials?

You can practise Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, and Investigating Science. Independent study tool. Not official HSC/NESA, endorsed, verified or approved.
